COLLAB ARTWORK
CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY ART NPAK (ARMENIA, 2024)

The piece is made in collaboration with ceramics and glass artist Elizabeth Araqelyan.

The artwork begins as a large block of ice encasing delicate ceramic objects.

Over time, as the ice melts, the piece transforms into an array of these objects suspended in the air.

My role in this project involved two-phase projection mapping — first onto the ice, and later onto the ceramic pieces after the ice had melted.

After coming to Armenia, I’ve felt a strong urge to find my place within the local artist community. At the same time, I’ve realized that it’s not always appropriate to work with local context and cultural legacy without being genuinely involved with Armenian artists. Gradually, I came to understand that, especially during these turbulent times—when artists are particularly vulnerable—my main artistic practice here is to support and assist local artists using whatever skills and resources I have.

Impulse is one of the projects where I had the opportunity to act as both an assistant artist and a technical specialist for several other artists.

“Impulse” is an artist-run initiative that showcases multimedia art pieces, interdisciplinary installations, immersive experiences, and participatory artworks. Collaboration and an interactive experience are at the core of the exhibition.

Here, we display art as a collective game, encouraging to participate — touch, strike, interfere… The games we create are reinterpreted through the visitor's involvement. With this exhibition, we emphasize the importance of engaging with art in a united effort towards cultural ascension.

The exhibition is organized with the support of “NPAK” in the frameworks of the “How to Survive as an Emerging Artist 2.0” program by “ICA Yerevan” and “ArtNexus” initiated by the participating artists.
