Bio

I come from humanitarian background, having graduated from one of Russia's biggest universities as a political science specialist. In my 20s, I've worked in public relations and copywriting for tech companies, educational projects and museums.

My path to contemporary art was paved by music, as I’ve been participating in various music projects since the late 2000s, and subsequently shifted to sound art. Apart from these practices, I’ve been involved in developing interactive installations and immersive experiences in both corporate and non-commercial settings.

With works across both physical and digital domains, I’ve participated in exhibitions and festivals internationally and have worked both independently and within multidisciplinary and international teams. Informed by migration and exploration of tradition, in my works, I blend together spirituality, traditional knowledge and contemporary technology.

Artist Statement

In my work, I look for reflections, speculation, and answers to the issues we are living through today as a society - migration, urbanization, economic crises, and the subsequent eradication of tradition, communal connection, and spirituality. My projects often draw inspiration from everyday culture, myth, and my own lived experience. In Western urbanized societies, life unfolds at a high pace, often detached from culture and wider communities, lacking ritual and authenticity. I often aim to make my works a space where the audience can slow down, concentrate on the present moment, reflect on the current condition, and think about the future.

On my journey to finding my own true identity amidst my family’s entangled history and global geopolitical chaos, I frequently refer to traditional culture and women’s knowledge. However, it is important for me not to reinvent tradition, but rather to rethink it and ensure its continuity within contemporary life.

I work extensively with sound because music is the most powerful medium for me to transmit story and emotion, both immaterially and physically. I also use digital tools, as I believe engaging with contemporary technology is essential for societal development — allowing us to amplify traditions rather than eradicate them. Projection, interactive programming, sonification, and generative graphics are my primary instruments.

Over time, I have felt increasingly drawn to working with hardware and creating physical objects rather than purely digital or musical experiences. This is where I begin combining my passions from different fields - baking, knitting, and electronics - which come together within installation-based works.
